The 2012 English Music Festival

The band was once again delighted to accept an invitation to take part in the English Music Festival now in its 10th year. This was the bands second visit and was in good company sharing the weekends programme with groups such as the BBC concert Orchestra.

The requested programme took the band through some of the old treasures of brass band music such as Vaughan Williams overture ‘Henry V’, Percy Fletcher’s ‘Labour and Love’ ,Malcolm Arnold’s ‘Little Suite No. 2’, Arthur Bliss’s ‘Kenilworth’John Ireland’s ‘A Downland Suite’ , William Alwyn’s overture ‘The Moor of Venice’, Granville Bantock’s ‘Prometheus Unbound’, Arthur Butterworth ‘A Dales Suite' Herbert Howells ‘Pageantry’.

A challenging programme which the band thoroughly enjoyed working on and based on the audience response was very well received.
